LOOKING BACK: THE 21st annual SUMMER INSTITUTE

With great frequency, leaders face dilemmas, challenging situations and what seems to be a set of equally poor choices. These are the times when leadership shows its true colors, when decisions come with risk or unpopularity, when courage is essential. These are the moments when things are not “black or white” but varying degrees of “grey.” Or, are they?
NPLI 2018 asked participants to reflect on difficult decisions they made in their professional and personal lives. What made those decisions difficult? How were the dilemmas resolved? What advice could they share?
The NPLI Process
We looked at how leaders from a range of disciplines took on the tough calls. As decision-makers, how did they pay attention to social/emotional growth, equity and social justice? Institute participants returned home with a set of understandings, insights, and skills that are inspirational, practical, and actionable.
